In Sweden South Sápmi stretches from Västerbotten through Jämtland ending in Idre Sámi community in Dalarna. In Norway it encompasses Nordlandfylke, Nord- and Sör-Tröndelag ending in Elgå reinbeitedistrikt in Hedmark fylke.

Sámi cuisine is a vital part of Sámi identity and living Sámi culture. The natural conditions and the seasons guide the development of culinary tradition. This is true for indigenous peoples across the globe and is a source of inspiration and sustainable development.
